Recently the Lemonade Diet, or the Lemon Detox Cleanse, has gained more and more popularity as celebrities speak up about the weight loss benefits of this particular diet plan. The Lemonade Diet has been around for about sixty years now.
Some people recommend that before you start the Lemonade Diet, you should follow a colon cleansing salt water treatment for two days. The ingredients include one teaspoon of sea salt and twenty-four ounces of warm water. This beverage should be taken once in the morning and once in the evening for the two days prior to the Lemonade Diet. Be aware that you may be frequenting the bathroom because of this colon cleanse.
On the third day, begin the Lemonade Diet, but continue taking the salt water colon cleanse once a day. Weight loss is an added benefit but the primary purpose of the Lemonade Diet is for detoxification purposes. This diet can be used several times a year, but it is only a plan for improving your health. It is not a plan you can live on continually.
The Lemonade Diet consists of freshly squeezed lemon or lime juice, organic Grade B maple syrup, cayenne pepper, and purified water. Lemon juice acts as an internal detergent which cleans out the toxins and dissolves excess fats. Cayenne pepper promotes an increase in metabolism and also helps to rid the body of toxins.
The Lemonade Diet was designed to be a ten day diet plan, but since many people cannot handle this type of fast for that long three days is acceptable, at least the first time it is attempted. Keep in mind, no other food or drink beside the two mentioned above are allowed while on the cleanse.
After being on the Lemonade Diet for three to ten days, you should slowly introduce your body to normal food and drink. It is recommended you begin with some diluted freshly squeezed orange juice for the first two days and give your body a chance to react to the new liquid. After a couple days of orange juice, vegetable broth can be
incorporated to help your body make the transition.
