Our bodies require special care. This is why the Lemon Cleanse diet is so unique. If we don’t treat our bodies right, we find ourselves feeling sluggish and the thought of everyday tasks seems overwhelming. A body that has is kept fueled and in prime condition does not experience such negativity.
The Lemon Cleanse is a diet that involves ridding the body of toxins, losing weight, and regaining health that has been lost due to bad decisions and neglect. This cleanse was invented in the 1950s by Stanley Burroughs.
Following the diet is simple, but experiencing side effects is not uncommon. The side effects of the Lemon Cleanse are not usually harmful, but they can be uncomfortable.
The recipe for the Lemon Cleanse is as follows:
- 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon or lime juice
- 2 tablespoons organic maple syrup, Grade B or C (Grade A is not an acceptable substitute)
- a small pinch of cayenne pepper, each day add a little more
- 10-14 ounces of pure water (preferably room temperature, NEVER cold)
Mix all of the ingredients together in a sixteen ounce bottle or glass. Make sure the mixture is well shaken or stirred. You can also mix enough to last you through the day, but do not add the lemon or lime juice in until you are ready to drink your portion.
You should drink the lemonade mixture every one to two hours. Do not eat food while you are on the Lemon Cleanse, but do drink plenty of purified water.
The Lemon Cleanse is recommended for a minimum of ten days, but for some people that may be too long. If you feel you cannot make it for ten days, try three. Each time you do the Lemon Cleanse you can add days to your time. It is safe to do forty or more days if you feel you have need to.
When coming off the Lemon Cleanse, drink four ounces of freshly squeezed orange juice mixed with four ounces of water. Give your body a chance to react to this new liquid and if you feel well, take several more glasses throughout the first day.
On the second day, drink several eight ounce glasses of orange juice. If needed, add extra water. In the evening and in the days following, incorporate some vegetable broth into your day.
